I-95 Wheel Damage Questions
I hit a pothole on I-95 and now the car vibrates — is the wheel repairable?
Usually. Vibration at speed after a pothole is almost always a bent lip or barrel, which we straighten on-site and verify with a runout check. If the impact also cracked the wheel, we'll tell you whether the crack is in a location that's safe to weld.
The tire is fine but it keeps losing air since I-95 — what is it?
The rim. A bent lip, a hairline crack, or corrosion at the bead seat lets air out past a perfectly good tire. We find the exact spot, straighten or weld the rim, reseal the bead, and pressure-test it before we leave.
Do you come out to the highway, or do I need to get home first?
Get the car somewhere safe first — home, work, or a parking lot. We're a mobile repair service, not a roadside tow or tire service. A bent wheel with a slow leak is usually driveable for short distances at low speed; a cracked one should be swapped for the spare.
